How to Become a Civil Engineer

To become a civil engineer, you will need to earn a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited program. After graduating, you will need to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and then gain four years of experience working under a licensed engineer. Once you have four years of experience, you can pass the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam to become a licensed professional engineer.
